Duties include patrol, criminal investigation, community policing, narcotics, and firearms training officer. Personally assisted with an array of crimes. These investigations include, but are not limited to: Theft, Robbery, Burglary, Domestic Assault, Assaults, Attempted Murder, Murder, Rape, Narcotics, Missing Persons, and Crimes against Children.
Team Leader, Ches-Mont Emergency Response Team, PA (S.W.A.T.)
Sept. 2000 to present
Originally assigned to the team as a tactical operator. In 2003, was promoted to the rank of Assistant Team Leader. Supervised 10-15 tactical officers and was responsible for all decisions made during the execution of all S.W.A.T. operations. In November 2007, was promoted to Team Leader. Responsible for the supervision of all tactical team members, training, planning and execution of all S.W.A.T. operations. Also certified firearms instructor and an expert marksman on the police handgun, shotgun, submachine gun, and long rifle. Mike Shirey is also certified in Close Quarter Combat, Hostage Rescue and Dignitary Protection.
